Biography
Hugo Vau was born in Lisbon on July 1, 1977. He is a nature enthusiast, intrepid traveler, professional fisherman, passionate surfer. His relationship with Praia do Norte began in 2007, when he challenged some of the biggest and scariest waves on the planet, with emphasis on paddling, tow-in surf and rescue. He was present in two finals of the “WSL – XXL Big Wave Awards” in the category of “Biggest Wave”, with giant waves surfed in Nazaré. It was an historic achievement for portuguese surf. He has transformed his passions and ideologies into solid vocations, living a simple life, but at the same time filled by his fisherman activity and Big Wave Surfing. A true advocate of living in harmony with nature, enjoying the simple things in life, Hugo Vau is a fearless and inspiring member of this extreme sport, encouraging people around him to praise the wonderful world we live in. “The universe is a wonderful place.
